As a Cantor, Heather Hoopes Seid serves the many diverse needs of her community. She is a teacher, guide, and is always there to listen.
She graduated from the Academy for Jewish Religion California in 2023 with a Master's in Sacred Jewish Music and Smicha as a Cantor, and from Boston University School of Music with a Bachelor's in Vocal Performance in 2007.
She is collects Yadayim and Jewish Hymnals and is currently singing through the 1914 Union Hymnal with Cantor, Cantorial Soloists, and singers from all over the country.

The history of Congregation Beth Israel dates back to the 1880’s and is the first permanent Jewish community in Flint, MI.
Heather will be returning to CBI this year to lead Rosh Hashanah, Shabbat Shuva, and Yom Kippur services with Rabbi Josh Jacobs.

Akdamut is a piyyut from the 11th century, attributed to Rabbi Meir ben Yitzhak who lived in the Worms region of the Rhineland (Germany). For this video, eighteen Southern California cantors contributed to recording the ninety lines of Akdamut, using the traditional melody which is said to be a thousand years old.
